QUESTION: # 2. Why didn’t you write one big book?
by Donald H.
ANSWER: After I had finished my first three short stories, I decided this would be a great book, so I took five years to create a complete manuscript. Now, remember I am an artist first, so my book was fully illustrated. Thirty years ago we didn’t have self-publishing companies, and full color illustrated books were VERY expensive to publish and print. I didn’t have the financial means to publish and market my book, and my stack of rejection letters, from publishing companies, grew higher and higher.
Giving up was not in my vocabulary, so I continued to spend time in the imaginary world where I could go anywhere and do anything. My world and characters became my salvation, my hope, and my sanity. Publishing would have to wait for its time.
Interesting.
A good friend of mine wrote about only 30 days in Vietnam Combat and it needed to be in 3 Volumes covering only 30 days. I think keeping book size easily handled is important.
Thank you Chuck. Book size was a problem. I think we have that all figured out now. ENJOY!
